Federal Government
Responsible for national matters such as immigration, defence, employment insurance, criminal law, passports, banking and Canada Post.
Province of Ontario
Responsible for education, hospitals and health care, provincial highways, driver’s licences, the justice system, natural resources, housing and provincial legislation.
Region of Durham
Provides services that are shared across all eight municipalities, including:

- Durham Region Transit
- Public Health
- Paramedic Services
- Drinking water and wastewater infrastructure
- Regional roads, bridges and traffic signals
- Waste management
- Social housing and social services
- Emergency management
Township of Scugog
Your local Council focuses on community services such as:
- Local roads and sidewalks
- Fire protection
- Parks and recreation
- By-law enforcement
- Animal control
- Planning and zoning
- Municipal elections
- Property tax administration
- Cemeteries and local heritage
