About Alisa

I am honoured to have been elected as Ward 2 Councillor for the Township of Scugog. As a lifelong resident, I care deeply about our community, its people, and its future.

Born and raised in Scugog, this community has always been home. My roots here have shaped who I am and given me a deep appreciation for the people, businesses, and neighbourhoods that make our township such a special place to live.

For nearly 30 years, my family has also been connected to our local business community. My husband
owned and operated a business in town for almost three decades, and today my son continues that entrepreneurial spirit through his own local business. These connections have given me an appreciation for both the opportunities and challenges facing local residents and business owners.

Professional Experience

Before retiring from my full-time career in 2023, I worked as a law clerk for 24 years, including 16 years in municipal government with the Regional Municipality of Durham, the Town of Whitby, and the Town of Stouffville.

My municipal experience spans Insurance and Risk Management, Legal Services, and Enforcement Services, providing me with firsthand knowledge of municipal operations, legislative processes, public accountability, and responsible management of taxpayer resources.

Throughout my career, I worked with municipal staff, senior management, and elected officials on a wide range of legal, administrative, and operational matters. This experience gave me a practical understanding of how local government functions, the responsibilities of Council and staff, and the importance of informed, transparent decision-making.

Serving Ward 2

I believe local government works best when residents are informed, engaged, and have a meaningful voice in decisions that affect their community.

My priorities remain rooted in the commitments I made during my campaign: responsible spending, accountability and transparency, meaningful communication, and thoughtful growth that respects the character of Scugog.

As Ward 2 Councillor, I am committed to bringing my professional experience, local knowledge, and strong work ethic to the Council table. I recognize that effective representation means listening to different perspectives, asking difficult questions, making informed decisions, and being accountable to the people I represent.

Above all, I believe public service is about earning and maintaining the trust of residents.

It is a privilege to represent the community that has given so much to my family and me, and I look forward to working with residents, my Council colleagues, and Township staff to help build a strong future for Scugog while protecting what makes it home.
