Resident Question: "Would you approve of a core services review?"

A core services review would certainly be something I’d be interested in exploring. In a perfect world, yes, I’d love to have that kind of comprehensive review done.

But I also think we have to be mindful that a formal core services review can be a significant undertaking and may require outside expertise at a considerable cost to taxpayers. I wouldn’t support spending $X to potentially save $Y without first understanding whether the numbers make sense.

I’d start with what we already have - the Township’s budget, financial information, contracts and spending - and work with staff to identify where there may be efficiencies. If that initial review showed that a more comprehensive independent review could produce meaningful savings, then I’d absolutely want to have that conversation.

For me, it comes back to the same principle: every dollar spent on finding savings is itself a taxpayer dollar, so that needs to be spent wisely too.
