I am proud to be running for Ward 2 Councillor in the Township of Scugog as a first-time candidate with a lifelong connection to this community.
Born and raised here, Scugog has always been home. My roots
in this community have shaped who I am and given me a deep appreciation for the
people, businesses, and neighbourhoods that make our township such a special
place to live.
For nearly 30 years, my family has also been connected to
our local business community. My husband owned and operated a business in town
for almost three decades, and today my son continues that entrepreneurial
spirit through his own local business. I understand both the opportunities and
challenges facing residents and business owners, and I believe strong
communities are built when we support both.
Professionally, I worked as a law clerk for 24 years before
retiring in 2023. For the last 16 years of my career, I served in municipal
government with the Regional Municipality of Durham, the Town of Whitby, and the
Town of Stouffville in the areas of Insurance and Risk Management, and Legal
and Enforcement Services. That experience gave me firsthand knowledge of how
municipal decisions are made, how public resources are managed, and the
importance of balancing community priorities with responsible governance.
I am running because I believe local government should be
accountable, transparent, and accessible. Residents deserve clear
communication, thoughtful decision-making, and leadership that listens. I
believe in responsible spending, smart and sustainable development, and
planning for growth in a way that protects the character of our community while
improving the quality of life for current and future residents.
As your Ward 2 Councillor, I will bring practical
experience, a strong work ethic, and a commitment to putting residents first. I
want to help build a Scugog that remains welcoming, vibrant, and financially
responsible - while ensuring every resident feels informed, heard, and
represented.
I’m not running to make promises. I’m running to serve the
community that has given so much to my family and me.
